About The Role

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of people in your local community? We are seeking a confident individual to lead on promoting and creating awareness of brain health in North Lincolnshire!

About the role
 
Location: Community based in North Lincolnshire with some homeworking elements. 
Contract: Fixed term contract for 8 months, 28 hours per week. 

As a Brain Health Dementia Adviser, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance about brain health and dementia to people in your local community. Helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. You will offer guidance in the community, face to face, by phone, letter, or email. You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.
 
You will:
  • Raising awareness about brain health and symptoms of dementia, in your local community.
  • Attending local events, meeting members of the public 
  • Improving people’s sense of well-being, enabling them to have more control over their lives and promoting the benefits of seeking a memory assessment
  • Assisting with the identification of needs, providing information and access to relevant services.
  • Promoting our service and building relationships with a range of health and social care professionals.

About you
 
You are:
  • A self-starter who is proactive, creative, a good listener and incredibly motivated. 
  • Ability and interest in supporting people to discuss their memory concerns, recognise the symptoms of dementia, and help them take more control of their lives.
  • Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other diagnosis or support requirements this would be taken into consideration.
  • Experience of quickly and independently building networks and developing working relationships, essential
  • Experience with communicating with a wide range of people, adapting your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.
  • Good IT skills, experience working with databases and virtual meeting software (Teams / Zoom).
  • The ability to travel across North Lincolnshire independently is essential for this role.
