Are you an experienced Senior Creative Designer who knows how to inspire a team to create their best work? Are you ready to lead the in-house design team at the UK’s leading dementia charity? This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in a newly created role, leading our in-house design team in producing consistently excellent creative work and nurturing our brand.

Right now, it’s more important than ever that we raise awareness of the devastation of dementia in an era of new breakthroughs in drug treatments and our mission to deliver transformational change for people affected by dementia - this is a pivotal moment in the fight against dementia.

The successful launch of our new visual identity and brand strategy last year has played a key part in raising the profile of our cause. Now we’re building on that momentum - and successful, strategic creative development and execution of our brand is essential to maintain our reputation and credibility as a leading dementia charity.

Alzheimer's Society has recently been named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023! We have achieved excellent scores for workplace happiness, pride, and job satisfaction. This is a fantastic achievement and we're incredibly proud as this is a fantastic indication of how far we’ve travelled over the past few years.

You will:
  • Lead and inspire our design team to support income, brand and organisational objectives
  • Line-manage 2 designers and supervise our trusted freelance designers.
  • Work collaboratively with our copywriting, video, brand, fundraising and communications teams across the charity, to support income generation and extend our audience reach – in particular, developing a creative copy/design partnership.
  • Work with our Creative Delivery team to ensure design work is delivered on time, effectively and efficiently to a high standard of excellence.
  • Develop and run creative workshops and act as leading expert consultant on design matters across the Society.
About you

We’re looking for someone who understands the power of great creative and exceptional leadership to inspire action and create a real and lasting change for everyone affected by dementia.  Someone who has the drive to consistently deliver strategically focused strong creative that captivates our audiences.

We need an expert, hands-on, conceptually and strategically focused Senior Creative Designer with management experience, who will lead and inspire our busy design team, working closely with our Senior Creative Copywriter.

We need a great communicator who’s keen to build good collaborative relationships, promoting the importance of design excellence and visual brand consistency as well as developing exceptional design standards across the organisation.

If you’re ready for your next challenge, we want to hear from you.

You are:
  • A hands-on, conceptual, highly talented design expert.
  • An inspiring design leader who loves seeing excellent creative work come to fruition and deliver results.
  • Someone who puts strategic creative thinking at the heart of all their work.
  • An experienced people manager inspired by seeing your team develop.
  • Someone who thrives on building collaborative relationships with colleagues and creative partners, championing the design team and the role of design in the organisation.

About Alzheimer's Society

At Alzheimer's Society, we believe passionately that life doesn't end when dementia begins. We are here for anyone affected by dementia, and we do everything we can to keep people with dementia connected to their lives and the people who matter most.

Everything we do is shaped by people affected by dementia. Their knowledge and experience are critical to bringing about real-world solutions. From choosing the most promising research through to telling their stories to raise awareness; they are the heart of this organisation.

Our Values

We are Determined to make a difference when and where it matters most, by being passionate, focussed and making a lasting impact for people affected by dementia.

Every one of us is a Trusted expert, listening, learning and using evidence and experience. We are Better together by being open, combining our strengths, helping us to achieve more together. We are Compassionate, we are kind and honest, and we don’t shy away from challenges.

Through our values we will make the greatest difference for people affected by dementia.

Equal Opportunities

We’re a national charity providing dementia support to a community that’s ethnically diverse, but we don’t reflect this in our senior leadership. This needs to change.

We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the community we exist to serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly those from ethnically diverse communities who are traditionally underrepresented in the charity sector leadership roles.

We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer's Society.

We are committed to building a diverse organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do. During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and be at your best.
