About The Role

Are you passionate about enabling people affected by dementia to share their experiences and be heard? If so, then we’d love to hear from you!

Local Dementia Voice activities enable people living with dementia to engage in meaningful activities within a group setting, either online or face-to-face, and to have a voice. They do this by using their experiences to influence the work both of Alzheimer's Society and the health and social care environment on matters to improve the quality of their lives.

You’ll help to set up the room and tidy away at the end of the group as well as prepare and handout refreshments. You’ll welcome and talk with people living with dementia and assist them where necessary to engage in Dementia Voice activities and, if supporting an online group, to join in the conversation. Some light administration duties, such as registering attendees or taking meeting notes may also be involved.

You would be expected to attend the group at the community hall of Solihull Methodist Church, B91 1LG, for 2.5 hours each month.  Additionally, you would need to be available to type minutes, make phone calls, and do admin for an additional 1.5 hours per month.

Interested?  To apply for this role please click on the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the page.

You’ll be great for the role if:

  • You can demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
  • You have good communication skills, especially listening, and are organised.
  • You enjoy meeting new people and being part of a team.
  • You are over the age of 16
