About The Role

This role is based at our  Dementia Resource Centre 5 York Road, Peterborough, PE1 3BP

Volunteers must be able to support on at least one day and for at least three hours out of the the following days and times:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays between 9.30-3.30

The Dementia Resource Centre is a one stop shop for people to access advice, information and support. Our aim is to provide a wide range of services that really meet the needs of local people and make a positive difference to their lives. Reception Volunteers can be the first contact someone has with Alzheimer's Society and they play a vital role in ensuring that a positive impression is provided.

You’ll be meeting and greeting visitors and connecting them with the people they have come to visit and/or the groups they wish to attend. You’ll be providing support to staff, volunteers, people affected by dementia and members of the public as they arrive at the office. You’ll also be assisting with general office tasks such as outgoing post and ordering office supplies, in addition to making internal and external room bookings using our in-house IT system.

You’ll be great for the role if:

  • You enjoy meeting new people and are warm, friendly, and approachable
  • You have existing administration and reception skills or are looking to develop these
  • You are committed to delivering great customer service and are happy to volunteer as part of a team
  • You have basic IT skills (e.g., ability to use Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word)
  • You are able to commit to regular days of the week/time slots agreed
  • You are over the age of 16
