Our groups provide a welcoming and supportive space for people affected by dementia to engage in activities, socialise with others and get support and information.
As a Group Facilitator Volunteer, you’ll provide key support with the administration and running of the group, by coordinating and facilitating activities, welcoming people to the group and keeping records of those attending. You’ll also support with the set-up and tidying away after the group, as well as providing encouragement to people attending to participate in the activities on offer. As well as carrying out the role as part of a team, there may be opportunities to facilitate these group sessions unsupervised, should the need arise.
This role will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Check from either the Disclosure and Barring Service (England & Wales), Disclosure Scotland Check (Scotland) or AccessNI (Northern Ireland). Our group services offer people affected by dementia under the age of 65, and their carers, the opportunity to access support and information, to meet others in a similar situation and to engage in meaningful activities in a
welcoming and relaxed environment.
As a Group Facilitator Volunteer, you will play a key role in supporting the running of the group and help with the planning and delivery of activities, supporting the wellbeing of people affected by dementia. There may be occasions where you have the opportunity to facilitate these group sessions unsupervised, should the need arise. Please note that the ability to travel independently across Luton is required.
