About The Role

We’re looking to expand our team and would love to offer the role to someone who has a passion for equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). This is an exciting opportunity to come and work for us whilst studying an apprenticeship to gain a Level 3 qualification.

This role is home based within England as it is a Government requirement to enable us to access their funding for the apprenticeship.

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal time within the organisation’s EDI journey. We support the equity of all of our people, however, our EDI strategy has a particular focus on race equity and this will be something you’ll be strongly involved in supporting us as team to help the Society achieve their commitment in becoming an anti-racist organisation.

The role will be varied and offer the chance to work with a range of stakeholders and a knowledgeable team to support you with your learning and development. This post will be fixed term for a period of up to 18 months, dependent on when the end point assessment of the apprenticeship is completed.

You will:

Support and coordinate our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and (EDI) activities across the organisation, along with supporting our aim to drive engagement with our colleagues through multiple channels, developing and delivering engaging and informative content and materials.

You’ll help build and communicate an inclusive working culture, where this becomes embedded in everything we do, whilst contributing to the development, administration, and implementation of initiatives and learning that support in delivering our EDI objectives.

You’ll report to the EDI Specialist who will provide clear objectives and expectations to set you up for success in your role. This role also offers an apprenticeship in Business Administration which will help set the foundation of your knowledge in both EDI and working in an organisation within a business context.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing content for internal-facing publications, including monthly newsletters, weekly updates, ad-hoc messages and promotion of resources.
  • Closely supporting work on maximising the utilisation of the Society’s EDI memberships and accreditations.
  • Supporting in the gathering of EDI data to help evidence key trends or information that will support business decisions to be made.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support EDI initiatives, helping to embed inclusive practices throughout the people journey.
  • Supporting promotion and content for EDI awareness celebration days and months.
  • Understanding how organisations work and how to contribute to building sustainable change in workplace culture
About you
  • Passion for Diversity & Inclusion: A genuine interest for fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Content Creation: Competent writing skills, with the ability to develop in creating clear, engaging, and inclusive content for a wide range of audiences.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Developing on your ability to communicate effectively, with the capability to build and maintain relationships across the organisation.
  • Organisational Skills: Effective time-management and organisational abilities to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Expanding your knowledge of EDI best practice: Researching and developing your knowledge to support you in your role and update the team on new industry thinking.
  • Digital Proficiency: digital skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
What we will provide you:
  • The opportunity to build a strong foundational knowledge of EDI practice through our work, and business administration through the apprenticeship.
  • A supportive team and work environment that encourages initiative and recognises great work.
  • Experience of working in a leading organisation within the Charity sector.
  • A dedicated apprenticeship space for you to connect with other apprentices across the Society.
  • A recognised Level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration.
