We are passionate about promoting social inclusion for people living with dementia. We are looking for volunteers that will support people living with dementia to attend and participate in local pre-arranged social activities/groups.
This role will be crucial in helping people to stay connected and engaged with their communities and reduce social isolation.
This is a flexible role, with an expected commitment of around 8 hours per month. Volunteers should ideally be familiar with the areas of one or more of the following: Bishops Castle, Craven Arms, Clun, Church Stretton and Ludlow.
This role will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Records Check from either the Disclosure and Barring Service (England & Wales), Disclosure Scotland Check (Scotland) or AccessNI (Northern Ireland). You’ll be great for the role if you:
- Have an interest in developing meaningful relationships and making a real difference.
- Are committed to supporting people living with and affected by dementia to remain active in their local communities.
- Can demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
- Have good listening and communication skills.
- You are aware of or are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on people.
