About The Role

If you love meeting new people, enjoy being creative, and want to support people affected by dementia in your area, then we may have just the volunteer role for you!

As an Art Group Support Volunteer, you’ll help people affected by dementia to engage in creative activities and socialise with others in a welcoming group setting. The Gloucester Art Group is a friendly and supportive space where members can express themselves through painting.

Working alongside our Art Tutor, you’ll guide and encourage participants with their artwork—helping with painting techniques, colour mixing, and supporting them to explore their creativity. A friendly face at the group, you’ll also welcome attendees, chat with them to help them feel comfortable, offer refreshments, and assist with setting up and tidying away.

Your involvement in this role will ensure people affected by dementia can:

  • Meet others in a similar situation
  • Express themselves creatively through art
  • Access the support and information they need
  • Enjoy meaningful social connections in a safe, supportive environment.

We’re looking for someone with an artistic background who is confident in basic painting techniques, but most importantly, is kind, patient, and eager to help others shine through creativity.

The Art Group meets fortnightly from 10.30am-12.30pm at Gloucestershire Resource Centre, Alfred Street, Gloucester GL1 4DF.

If you find completing online applications difficult, please don't let this stop you from applying....please call or email us and we can support you with the application process.  You can contact the Volunteering Recruitment Team by emailing [email protected] or call on 0300 222 5706

About Alzheimer's Society

About Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Society is here for everyone affected by dementia.

By 2025, an estimated 1 million people will be living with the condition in the UK, and many millions more carers, partners, families and friends will be affected.

We do this by:

  • Providing flexible support services so that people with dementia, their carers and loved ones, can access expert advice and guidance, support through their most challenging days, and a safe space to turn when they need it.
  • Being a force for change - using research and influencing to push for breakthroughs that will change the lives of people affected by dementia now and in future.
